Esteemed genre artist Eastman Johnson painted this image of Mount Vernon after his visit to the estate in 1857. The artist's vantage point at the north of the Mansion is unusual, as most early images of Mount Vernon depict the east or the west front.

The stretched canvas print is 5 ¼" by 9 ½" inside the black and gold frame which measures 6 ½" by 11" overall.
